Set It and Forget It: Claude Now Runs Tasks on a Schedule

Anthropic's Claude Cowork desktop platform now supports scheduled and recurring tasks. Users can tell Claude to perform specific actions on a regular basis, weekly reports, daily email summaries, routine data pulls, and Claude executes them automatically without further prompting.

From Reminders to Automation

A calendar reminder tells you to do something. Claude's scheduled tasks actually do the thing. The difference is between an alarm that says "time to water the plants" and a sprinkler system that waters them on its own.

Tell Claude "Every Monday at 8 AM, summarize my unread emails from the weekend," and on Monday morning you find a finished summary waiting for you. Tell it "Every Friday at 5 PM, compile this week's sales data into a report," and the report appears in your folder before you leave the office.

Combined with Computer Use and Dispatch, this creates a workflow where Claude operates autonomously in the background, producing finished work you review when convenient.

What Is Claude Cowork?
